Last breath of winter
No, it won't be my last winter image, it's just that it was taken so late in winter that title is aprropriate. I was after serene mood of calm lake and just when I was ready to press the shutter, last rays of sun came through scattered clouds.

300 mm LF, Velvia 100f

Cheers,
Marko

Nice image Marko :toast:

It's a little on the 'dark' side for my taste and I wish I could see those 'last rays thru scattered clouds' - long tele landscapes are a bit of an art form :wavey:

Thanks Andy. 300 mm on large format isn't all that long. It's roughly equivalent to 70 mm in 35 mm terms. As for last rays, well I was in the wrong position and camera was facing the wrong way, so you can only see what those rays made on trees in my photo . As for darkness, well as you said, it's a personal taste....

Marko

Ah - now I understand your 'LF' notation - you'll have to be a bit more explicit with your techs next time :wavey: :wavey:

Used to do quite a bit of landscape work with a Toyo 5x4 myself back in the 'good old days' - fancied myself as a bit of an Ansel Adams - which just shows how wrong I can be

Then I did my back a mischief and struggled to 'lug' the rig around so I got rid of it. Then 25 years later I'm carting a blinkin' Sigmoster around; still with a knackered back and plus a few extra kilos of retained chips, cheese and other stuff - which just shows how stupid I can be

Superb Marko - this has real mood. I especially like how the trees contrast each other - the darker ones seem somewhat creepy stood there amongst the trees... Tristan

Very moody and atmospheric, I like it.

First impression Marko, is that the bottom third feels a touch dark for me also, and therefore the reflections are not as clearly defined as would be on the original/print.

I guess its always going to be a problem revealing subtle detail on 'screen', which is likely to be more of a hindrence to LF landscape, and difficult to do full justice to.

Looks good to me!!

Lovely winter scene :toast:
