On the Road...
While on my recent trip in western Nebraska and South Dakota, I was hurriedly driving from nowhere to somewhere, in sort of a hot, afternoon mental haze. As I was cresting a hill, I saw this "pass" in the clouds and I thought to myself "I have to photograph this!" As I crested the hill, there was a small valley, followed by another hill. In the valley, I pulled over and set up in the middle of the road, wary of traffic.

Out of all of the photos that I took on my trip, this is one of my favorites because it's one of the few that I didn't really anticipate (unlike the Black Hills, Badlands, etc.)...

Tim, the centered comp works here and the roadway seems to lead me to the "goal post" clouds on the distant horizon. Good impulse, well executed.

Reminds me of way to many road trips across the mid-west over the years. Nice shot.
