Chamois
Sorry i havent posted for a while-things to do etc, Today i went back into the Jura mountains as i had seen a group of Chamois when passing through last week,The group were still in the same area and were very calm-something unusual in these creatures, normally they bolt if you are within 100 yards, I spent a couple of hours with them and at one point a couple were less than 40 feet from me,They knew i was there and kept an eye on me but stayed calm,Last year i spent an entire month after them without 1 shot,It has been very hot here and today was no different and this shot was taken in full sunlight so the shadows are quite harsh

Not too keen on the BG here Dave - it's okay behind the subject, but the OoF Chamy is a bit too distracting for me - SORRY :frown: :frown:

Did you get any shots where the OoF one doesn't feature as much?

Sorry Dave, but it simply doesn't float my boat. Harsh shadow on chamois back is my main complain. They are great creatures. Only time I can think of photographing them around here is mid November, when their hormons let you get close .

Cheers,
Marko

Nits covered, but at the same time this is one of those shots that gives you a real feel for the subject's character - it looks alert and ready to go, and the shadow accentuates the shape of the horns. And any chamois I've ever seen are usually giving a great view of their backsides as they disappear over the next ridge!
