Hi,
I'm typing this horizontal as I've broken my back on a boat trip in south africa. I apparantly can't lift anything heavier than a kettle for three months, so not much photography for me but plenty of tea!
Great to see the fine work on this site, and enjoy the canon-nikon banter. It took me ages to type this so sorry for no comments.
Sorry to hear about you back Tim,I had wondered why you had not been up on UKNP,get well soon
Regards

Blimey Tim, can't imagine how painful that must have been! I hope that you have not gone stir-crazy by the time you are ready to go out and about again. I certainly went a little peculiar after a month in doors Wishing you a speedy and trouble-free recovery...

Just to add my best wishes for a quick recovery.

Bad luck Tim. surely a rather extreme way of getting out of the housework?
Hope the recovery goes well.
Best wishes Peter

All the best for a speedy recovery - and never mind what Phil says, drink plenty of tea - you can always opt for the catheta approach
I told you to stay safe but you didn't listen did you
Get well soon matey

Get well soon mate, looking forward to seeing your fine images on the site again!
I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Enjoy your tea and make it plenty and slowly while you are recovering. When you'll be back into photography, you'll not have this time luxury anymore .
Cheers,
Marko

Hey thanks all, I have some 3000 photos to process from the trip, been given permission to get a laptop to do them on. I'm thinking apple notebook as I like their screens, what you lot think? This 4 year toshiba has a poor screen.
Cheers again

If you get a Mac, go for a MacBookPro - they'll last you a bit longer than the MacBook. And don't forget to use the Ed. Discount too - it's worth it! One word of caution, don't buy any Apple software using Ed. Disc. as you don't get Upgrades/reductions - you have to buy again when the next version is out. (You do however get *updates*).

Hi Justin and Graeme,
It was part of our tour to do a boat trip with a view to see whales, so off we went. At sea the skipper was caught by surprise by an enormous wave (20 to 30 foot high) he turned into it otherwise the open boat stood no chance, and up we went, at the top I felt the boat disappear beneath me but I soon rejoined it breaking my back on a bench. I have three broken vertebrae, one a wedge fracture and one a beginning of a burst type with a crack along its length. Yes it did and does hurt, we're lucky to be alive and i'm lucky only bones are broken.

Hi Tim,
That is a real toe curler . Sounds really horrendous, bad whiplash is very painfull so can't imagine what it is like for you. Wish you a speedy recovery and hope you are up and about as quickly as possible, keep up your great sense of humour and that will help you get through.
An idea for the new Laptop is to get a small graphics pad, will probably make editing your pictures a little easier.....
Good luck & speak soon
Phil

Heck, ouch, glad you in one piece! Sounds like a lucky escape.
I agree with Phil, a tablet laptop may be easier?
