Just wondering how many of you go on exotic wildlife trips - I'm referring to say a fortnight in Africa or something. I've only been few. What were they like?
While all mine were very emensely enjoyable (in different ways), I find they're just a tad more than what I'd like to pay, or can affort if I was to be honest - around 2.5k for a 2 weeks package. I personally would prefer shorter & therefore cheaper trips. What are your thoughts & experience?

flights to africa tend to be around £500-600 so short trips can be expensive. camping safaris are generally cheaper at about $100 a day all in including safari drives and all food. generally you would have the same driver for a fortnight and I became good friends with mine. I can put you in touch with a reasonable company in Nairobi if you are interested. In 2 weeks last year I did Masai Mara, Nakuru, Samburu and Amboseli. Total cost for the whole trip including flights and beer etc was about £1500. Most nights you are staying in basic huts rather than tents rubbing along with Masai warriors. It's not luxury but this way all your money goes to Kenyan locals. others come and go on the trip so there is plenty of company and oodles of time for photography. charging batteries can be a challenge as all the Masai herdsmen are trying to charge their mobiles up! photos of my trip are on my website.(peterbarrittphotography.com)
responsible travel website puts you in touch with local agents who are reputable. had a great fortnight in India via them this year.
Good luck Peter
