Last night's dolphin activity went on for several hours, with several animals and a new calf playing about and really doing the cutie thing, but it all got really impressive for about 10 minutes - really really close to shore and I had a 500f4 on at the time. Not a very good move! Way too much lens! All I could see was tails. heads, flippers, spray, but never all in the one frame! There were bits of animals everywhere - two dolphins in the air as a third came up underneath and general mayhem as another pair walloped in behind. I was a wee bit disappointed at first when I looked on the lcd that I'd missed getting the wider scene, but later as I viewed them on the big monitor I changed my mind, and am quite pleased with the results, but particularly this spray portrait.

Quite like this one myself John, in an abstract kinda way - it's taken some looking at tho
Can't make out if the dolphin has it's eye shut or the eye is hidden by spray...
I know what you mean Andy! I had to sit and look at it for ages before I decided that yes it was ok, but abstract. The eye is open. There were a few like this where its not easy to see whether the eyes are closed or not.

I agree, it does have an abstract feel, and probably would be well suited to a poster sized print.
Decent result in my book, especially given the 'over-lensing' difficulties!!
