Mt. Evans Sunset
I have been going up to Mt. Evans on numerous occasions this summer ever since they opened the road to get photos, but all but one other time I \ missed the best lighting and having to settle for so so images:mad: . This was one of the better photos I have obtained of the area so far. I am determined to keep going up there until the road closes to get the really good ones

Something looks really wrong with the color. Composition is fine.

Hi Paul, you've got a nice comp here but it looks really dark. An ND grad filter would have helped, or you could put a screen layer over the bottom half in photoshop to pull out those pixels. I realize the scene itself was probably similar to how it looks here, but even a slight boost in the lower half darkness would help I think.

Paul:
I'd lighten the foreground some and bring the sky down to more closely match the color of the reflection. maybe then an overall lightening.

If you miss the best lighting, I'd look for other scenes to photograph besides just the big landscpapes. There's nice lichen-covered rock a couple of bends in the road before the summit. And the bristlecone you pass on the way up can make for nice shots. Checking the forecast and some of the nearby web cams can help too (though I don't think there's a web cam on Mt. Evans).

I brightened it up a little and corrected the weird coloring. This is actually a scan from slide film

it helps to post the photo. Yeah I think I'll skip this photo, not up to my standards

Hey Paul - you've definitely got a workable scene, but agree with you that the lighting isn't the most flattering in this image. If you do get back up there when the light is better, I agree with Jack that a GND in a scene like this will give you more to work with during and after scanning.

So, did you not have to pay the entrance fee? Did they give you any trouble?
