From my recent travels in the cascades under clear skies.
Thanks for comments/suggestions.

I like it overall, but would personally prefer to see an even/solid blue sky without the burning of the corners. It would promote more of a nice sunny flowery day, which is what this photo should be trying to get accross...and not so much drama.

Rick, it looks like that on the original file. Just the wide angle and inclusion of the sun - no burning of the sky.

I'm so used to seeing this type of wildflower display among the greenery of Paradise meadow, for example, that it seems unusual to see these among rock and bare earth....
Nice job with the exposure and composition.

Beautiful desolation, It's interesting to see the flowers doing so well among the rocks up at this altitude.

These are the highest elevation flowers I know of in the Cascades. For some reason they really thrive in this area, at well over 8000 feet. Probably the excellent water sources. They were way better here this year than in Paradise or anywhere else IMO. They should still be going strong into September too!

Beautiful shot Marc. Something about those paintbrushes adds a dramatic effect. Nice work with the lighting.

Works for me. Really sweet - I love the burned away sky along the top of the mountain.... Not sure if that is haze or the way things work when shooting directly into the sun, but it is a sweet effect.
Well, leave it to you to make something magical out of severe clear! And to find the flowers where average people like me can't get to them... darn it... This is a seriously great shot, Marc.

Nice shot even though that sun star hurts my eyes a little. My eyes can't seem to pull away from it.
