I know this isn't a very exciting comp but, I'm diggin' the colors. Anybody know what this plant is called? They are all over and currently in a red/withering state. Most the leaves are starting to wilt away. I skipped a shot with them the other day and now those ones are in sad shape. I wished I'd taken that shot and couldn't talk myself out of taking this one as I was packing up to go home yesterday evening. The red color of these plants against the white pumice is beautiful albeit difficult to capture (for me).
The sun had just set on Mt. Bachelor in the background as I finally decided to shoot and began scrambling for comps.
This was on a hillside which is why it might appear unlevel.

I really like this. The color and texture is great, the exposure is right on and the comp is appealing if not super dramatic. Nice job.

Great color, and in fact, the lighting as a whole is wonderful..

You know, this image is really subtle. It is quiet and peaceful and really serene. The composition is very strong, and I think it works very well. Less is more. Three elements and subtle lighting, and it works. I like it.
In other words, what Sean said...

Nice, Hans! Not completely positive, but I think that's Newberry's knotweed.
