Room for a view....
Ok, I know it's not a great shot, and lacking in interest, but it's my first effort on landscape shots so I'm after some hard-core, no holds barred critique here. I realise it's probably not the best site to post totally novice images, but there's a lot of people on here that can help and point me in the right direction, so I'm going to post this dross until I improve

So,set my alarm for 4.30am this morning(i assumed that's the ridiculous hour that landscapers get out!), got to where I wanted to go (not too far!) and then sat in my car for 45 minutes until I could see something  Got sunrise a bit wrong this morning!!
Learn the hard way I say!!

Also be interested to see what people think about using HDR after reading a posting on one of the main forums.

Comments appreciated

OK Graeme, you asked for it: I like set up for your photo. That bench is very inviting, especially with me imagining what might be behind that green wall. But my interest stops there. Because of HDR there is no interesting shadows and that green wall blocks out most of the view one would have sitting there. So, yes it's more of a record photo, but you got your main point straight: you were there at the right time. Your learning already started.

Cheers,
Marko

You did better than me Graeme - I set the alarm for 5.25 and slept straight through it!

Great shot, the title particularly suits the pic me thinks.

Chris.

I agree with all points Marko raises. I'd like to see more of the view and more contrast - HDR often tends to create flat looking images to me as there are no proper shadows. Excellent first image though and a very good time to take the shot. I've been hopeless at getting out early recently (due to sleepless baby) so tend to go for sunsets :-) Tristan

Thanks guys. I admit when I processed it I instantly thought abotu wishing I'd included more of the view. The shadows yeah, I know what you mean. This is where I get a bit confused as in bird photography, I do my utmost to avoid shadows really and HDR would be great if subjects would sit there for 5 shots
I may have a go at processing this using a blending technique and see how it comes out and see the difference.

Thanks for your help and hopefully I'll post something a bit more interesting next time
