According to an NWS warning just issued (607pm Aug 28) flash flooding occuring in Salt Wash in the Wolfe Ranch area, water flowing over road and temp bridge, and 4 feet deep in wash. Beleive this is same area that had flooding last year (or maybe two years ago), so if your plans include Arches, might want to check on conditions first.

Remnants of Hurricane Dean, I suspect. And I think some of it is heading this way.
Yup - same as last October. The Delicate Arch area was shut down for a couple of days that time. It was, however, very interesting to see the Moab area with that much water everywhere...

Weird, I haven't heard anything about it on the radio. The rangers were checking on weather reports for the Book Cliffs earlier, perhaps due to possible flooding. We haven't had any rain in Moab for 24 hours and all the washes around here are now dry. I'll have to see if I can get any information on possible Arches flooding.
Thanks for the tip, Timothy.

Darn, just missed mother nature in action !
I was in the Moab area for a few days last week.
I took the Fiery Furnace ranger led hike. What fun! Well worth the $10 for the ~3 hr tour.
I highly recommend the guided tour before trying it on your own. You'll see much more.
