I think I'm going to title these "Compassion"
I took these in Crescent City, CA. The bird was brutally injured and this little girls compassion gave me goosebumps. I fired off a ton of images before she even knew I was there. They work much better as a series. I wish I hadn't blown the whites on the bird, but I had been shooting a raven moments earlier.
After all was said and done, I talked to the girl briefly and asked if I could meet her parents(laying on a blanket down the beach). I got their info for a model release. I should have it back from them in a few days. Every man and nature type shot I've ever done has reflected our negative impact, so this was refreshing.

I hope it's ok to post one more out of about 10 I really like.......The wind was whipping up sand and although everything seems slightly soft, I think it's effective here.

These are really moving, Dan. Way to capture the moment...and awesome to see the compassion here.

They both have impact but I feel it even more on the 2nd image. Nice job!

Outstanding documentary work, Dan. I prefer #2.

These are great and packed with emotion. #1 tells a complete story without needing any explanation. #2 feels stronger. I think it benefits from being paired with the first image or some text (to explain the situation). Great catch!

One more..now that I've sat down to sort through these, I can't stop looking at them. It really brings me back to that day. I'm no sissy , but after I finally left the beach that day, I was pretty choked up about what I had witnessed.

Nice work Dan. The girl's compassion is refreshing, but I can't help wondering how the bird was injured in the first place. I'll second Mike's feedback.
I look forward to meeting you around town one day too. The way things work in Ashland I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later.
