Before Todd claims a monopoly on both clouds and lightning, I figured I'd better shoot some bolts. I saw this impressive storm while driving towards Alamosa, so I stopped to snap a few pics.

Holy cow! This is spectacular. The clouds are out of this world, and you've got good detail even in the darker parts. I love that you can see the sheets of rain coming down. Lightning does some funky stuff - those two right angle turns are crazy.

Awesome shot, Grant! I'm still kicking myself for not shooting the lightning from Longs pk yesterday (getting below treeline was a higher priority).

It's amazing how the clouds can make all the difference in a shot like this. Some of my bolt-only shots were okay, but like this one, the best ones show something of the source of the fire.

Grant, terrific image. The clouds, multiple strikes and the rain sheets really make this outstanding.

Ditto what everyone else has said; this is everything a lightning shot should be.

Awesome shot, the clouds varying elevations combined with the very photogenic multiple strikes give great depth to the photo.
