As some of you may recall I posted a thread a while back about how my 4GB CF had gotten corrupted. I had used this card almost exclusively on my summer San Juan trip.
When talking with the manufacturer, Ridata, I told them that I was going to use an outside data recovery service since they could not recovery the data.
Well about a 10 days later they called back and said they 'were' able to recovery the majority of the images. So it sounds like they elevated my problem to the next level and possibly hired an outside group to perform the recovery.
Anyway I just recieved two DVDs with about 85% of the images back along with a new 4 gb card. So needless to say I was very pleased with their service and the final outcome. The only downside was that in the process of data recovery they somehow coverted all images to jpgs. And the auto conversion wasn't pretty. Although the images weren't the highest quality in terms of noise, color, contrast, etc... I at least have something from my trip this summer.

Glad you got most of your images back. You got some nice shots on your trip!

It certainly is a very nice portfolio, Derek. I especially like approx #'s 16-25. Good thing you got these back, but pretty strange that they were converted to jpg.

I sure recognize those columbines in American Basin. Glad you could get some of your images back.

Glad to hear that you got something back from that card - you definitely have a nice portfolio of keepers there.

Derek,
I'm glad you were able to get some images off your card. Here is a picture of you at American Basin. Nothing great, but shows you were there. It was fun to meet someone from RMNP during our visit to the area. I hope you have better luck with the new card.

Rodney,
It was great to meet you and your family in the San Juans.
I was very impressed with your young son and his ambition to get out and hike right up to Sloan lake. I did that hike the next morning and it kicked my @#$. I thought I was in OK shape. But I have not really hiked as high as that before. I almost went to the top of Handies. But I got too side tracted taking pictures. Next time I want to go to the top for sure.
Did you make it back the next day? That drive back to Lake City was longer than we thought, especially for us 'amateur' 4x4ers.

We did make it, but after the Lady on top of the pass told us you could drive any car from lake city to the basin we were a little shocked at the quality (or lack of) of the road, and the distance. What a great trip through.

I have posted some of the images which weren't as butchered here:
