Sunrise this Morning (w/ added pics)
Michael Deleon and I were up at my favorite spot on Hwy 128 this morning, and we were treated to a spectacular sunrise with great clouds and virga everywhere. And with no clouds on the eastern horizon, things lit up nicely.

I've got a few more with Longs in the frame; I'll try to post a couple more a little later.

Here's a shot of Michael, taken looking 90 degrees from the above shot.

Nice Rick, love that 1st shot. The yellows look a little hot esp in the 2d shot.

I agree on toning down the yellow highlights in the clouds just a touch, but these are both incredible! :toast:

Great work Rick, I saw the sky too and took some shots of my back yard, the virga was really lit up.

Geez Rick, This one is just the filthiest (baseball compliment) in the series. Please post the all one of these days. :toast:

Thanks for the comments and compliments. Yeah, that yellow are in the second shot is pretty hot - this is a .jpg pretty much straight from the C-8080 and that's how it rolled out. I'll have to borrow some neighboring pixels and use the healing tool to tone it down a little; can probably desaturate the yellow a scoche while I'm at it.

Dave - I was actually working on sorting out all of my Flatirons images last week so that I could put up a page of these shots on my site. I'm getting close!

Paul, John - yeah, Michael and I were chuckling about the location this morning. From the pics, you might think this is a pristine mesa looking out to the Flatirons. When we tell people that it's at the intersection of Hwy 128 and McCaslin, adjacent to Rocky Flats, surrounded by transmission and distribution lines, and a total of 10 seconds from the parking area... Any time the light is good, I'm up there - look for a gold Toyota Tundra with a topper. Hope to see you up there some time!

Here's one with Longs Peak, which had its very own little virga cap. Actually, there was virga everywhere except due south - quite the morning!

And a vertical with some nice flowers. I was suprised to see them up there this time of year. No doubt due to the routine afternoon showers we've been having.

You are simply outstanding in your field! Or is it, out standing in a field?

Wow, if I had 3 hands, I'd give you a three-thumbs-up, but since I'm handicapped by having only 2 hands, you'll have to accept two-thumbs-up. Outrageous color and depth to these. I'm torn between #1 and #3. Spectacular color in the sky, not to mention the beautiful golden fields.

nice shots from here as normal Rick! You must have a pretty impressive portfolio from this intersection. I work about 5 mins away from this intersection, so I need to get my lazy butt up earlier and get out there! The horizontal with Longs in it is my fav...
