Sunrise from the Black Balsam area on July 7th. this is kind of simple but i liked the colors and the mtn. slopes. I would love to hear some thoughts on this one.
On Tuesday I am headed to Africa for 3 and a half weeks - hopefully i'll some different stuff to share when i get back.
Thanks!
Wade

Simple is super when you have layers like this. The color looks sweet enough for pancakes. I might remove the 5 white blooms in the bottom right side. Africa huh-I hope it's all for pleasure and no work. Have a safe journey

Wow that is awesome Wade! I know I have seen that location before, but where is it?
Did you use a polarizer for that particular shot? I am trying to figure out if you should always use a polarizer when doing landscapes or is there a certain rule of thumb. So to speak.

Beautiful shot, Wade. Have a great trip.
Joey, I'm no expert, but polarizers don't help much when the sun is behind you or in fron of you. Also, they may make things too dark or, as I learned in the San Juans, not be necessary at high altitudes.
Graduated Neutral Density filters help a ton in situations where a polarizer won't work.

Hi Joey - I didn't use a polarizer for this shot. Most of the time i use a polarizer to reduce glare in brighter conditions. I did use either a 2-stop or 3-stop GND for this shot so that i could maintain some detail in the foreground instead of it being completely dark.

Wade, this is simply stunning! I love the colors and layers of the ridges. Your use of the neutral density was right on. A nice one!
