I recently bought this lens and looking for any suggestions/advice.

I own 77mm pol filter (BW, warmtone käseman) and still use GND filters whenever needed and will be using this lens on APSc camera.

Thanks a lot for your time!

Hm. I've owned the Tokina 12-24 since February and it quickly became my number one lens. I almost exclusively shoot landscape with it. I've found that it's very sharp between f/8 and f/13 if you're going to use it on the widest end. And that's where I tend to use it most (12-14mm). I also love how sturdy the lens feels. Great quality build. You'll notice some barrel distortion, but that's only minor and can be fixed in post processing.

I also use GND filters on it. Using the Cokin Z-Pro holder and Z-Pro 100x150mm filters I get no vignetting down to 12 mm (with 2 filters stacked). The only thing you have to make sure, is that the holder is completely straight. That means you can't really turn the holder much when you're down at 12mm.

Good luck with your Tokina. I hope your copy is as great as mine (which I sadly must part from soon due to full-frame upgrade) and will give you great image quality.

By the way, which camera are you going to be using it on?

Good luck Prashant! I have the lens too, and so far it's been working nicely (I haven't shot too much with it, though). The only problem I'm running into from time to time is underexposure, but I don't know whether I should blame my D100 or the lens.

I've been using this lens with a D80 since spring. I struggled using it until I got z-pro size grads. Now it's great. I really only use it for the 12-15mm range as my Nikon lens begins at 18mm and offers similar quality.

I'll echo Anders regarding the aperture settings too. I did some tests on this lens because I wasn't happy with the sharpness of really stopped-down shots. Sharpest on my lens is f11 and acceptable results shots occur from F8 - F13 while using wide angle.

Prashant,

I have had this lens now for about a year and a half. Using the P-Series Cokin older, I get vignetting at 12 mm. It is gone by 14-15mm. Therefore the z-pro are the way to go. I use it on a D200 and it is a great lens to have, built like a tank. I have the B&W Kaesemann MRC SLIM CPL Filter 77mm, no vignetting. I used to have a Hoya CPL, the non-slim version and I used to get vigetting with that.

Enjoy the lens,

Andre
