Hermit Pass
We decided to get off our front porch and spend a little time on Hermit Pass last Saturday. The clouds were rolling in creating some nice lighting on the ridges. The tundra is starting to turn to some beautiful shades of yellow and orange. We managed to spend a couple hours up there before the thunderstorms ran us off.

Here's a couple from our trip.

Nice stuff! I'm going to have to get down there one of these days. I like the third shot best - great layers. There is something weird about the lake in the first shot.

That first shot is great. Love the color in the lake.

Awesome stuff, Rand! #3 is my fav. Id love to hear a little about equipment used/technique/pp--care to share?

I like #3 the best, too. Having Eureka Lake spotlit like that is cool, and the distant peaks look so menacing.

In number one I leveled the image based on the clouds in the upper left. However, this seemed to make Horseshoe Lake look like all the water should run out. I tried the lens correction in this one and it seems to look more natural.

Stan, I used a 5D with a 24-105mm lens @ 28mm. Some dodging, burning, and contrast curves in photoshop.

wow - #3 is sweet. Awesome geology down there combined with some great lighting...

These are a great set of images. Some of the best posted from this area in my opionion. Great color, contrast and the lighting couldn't have been better. Amazing how different they can look and all you did was probably zoom in on the mountains. #3 is my favorite too, but the rest are right up there. Looks like a terrific area to visit.

excellent set of images they seemed more unique to me, good job!

Nice images. I like the updated version of #1, along with #3.

They are all nice. I'm picking #3 as a favorite. Very nice group of photos.

I'm in agreement. I like #1 and #3 the best. Looks like the tundra is turning color. Beautiful light and hues here.

Damn, these are all sweet! Amazing light, color and depth to all of these, and of course the scenery is beautiful. I like the second version of #1 the best. #3 is right up there (they all are, really), but the dappled light in #1 pushes it to the top for me. The second version also looks sharper than the first - a benefit of digital lens correction vs. leveling?
