Who uses a head on theirs, and which head? I have the 680B but currently no head. Do you find a head improves the "experiance"?

Hi Paul, I know that having no head really restricts me to the point it's useless most of time for the type of shooting I do..... be interested in this post too as a recommended head would be good for a large lens

I use mine for light work only, so a cheap Manfrotto 676B with the standard Man.234 swivel head converted to dovetail clamp with a small Kirk clamp. The 234 head is indespensible as it enables the 'pod to stay vertical and stable when shooting at an angle either upwards or downwards
This set up is fine for my Oly gear, but the 'pod clamps would struggle with the weight of a Canon 500F4.5 and 1 series body all my Regent Park images earlier this year were taken with this set up - the head is fine, but my 'pod is too light for the Canon rig

I have a 322RC2 head that used to be on my 680B monopod, but now resides on my old 144B tpod which I use for macro. I must admitt that I don't have much use for the monopod now - I tend to use it to prop my Cherokee tailgate up 'cos the gas struts have gone - shame on me
The head is quite good though
I really do fancy treating myself to a new t/pod for the old macro shots - but I'm an odd sort of git really and I like the 144B leg adjusters, these new fangled snappy clamps are too fiddly for me, gimme a good screw adjuster and I'm happy
