OK, so I've been a little behind posting like y'all have lately. It's not that I haven't been taking pictures, it's just not the landscape type; at least, not until Netta can sit up better on unstable ground;) And I'm feeling lost with the RAW converters - DPP and ACR isn't cutting it for me. I have the C1v4 beta and like it so far.
So tonight was the once a month PJG photomembers session and I decided to finally get out and go. But tonight was the first time I've seen the gardens lit with tea lights in the stone lanterns. It was really nice!
But it was also getting dark - fast. And this was the first time in a while I've seen the place crawling with photographers - almost as many as during the fall season.
So I tried to dust off my landscape shooting capability and come away with *something.* Most were taken in near darkness and this shot was a 2 minute exposure at f/4 and 400 ISO. This spot was taken by photogs for most of the night & a line was forming. I was elbow to elbow on this one, and couldn't really see what I had until I came home. I sure wished I could've moved another foot or two to the right or was able to spend more time there...
Anyways, I know this is a critique forum, so let me know what you might have done differently. A longer exposure and a two foot move to the right would've been my choice next time. It's still my fav from the night so far.
Love it!! Sounds like a tough shoot, Kevin, with all the competition for perfect spots. Looks to me like you made it work. The simplicity, refection of the lantern, the type of plants-- all very Zen looking to me.

Well, you guessed my critiques, but this is still pretty nice.
Thanks all! I do like it overall, but the OOF foreground and other things make it "OK" for me. It was a good learning experience though. I'm glad I had the 5D to focus with in this darkness!
