This is an image from an outing last week to the Kankakee Sands Prairie nature preserve in northwest Indiana. Nothing particularly special but it's the first picture I've taken in about a year so that's something. I've been in a real funk creatively since early last fall. I'm trying to break out of it by spending more time on NPN.
In another attempt to spur some interest again in photography I recently purchased Lightroom and this is the first image I've processed using it. I must admit I had to dump the file into PS to do final sharpening but other than that it's all Lightroom.
I'm always inspired by the efforts of the many excellent photographers that hang out on NPN and I look forward to spending more time here.
Nice to have you here Mike. I took a look at your website and really enjoyed your work. Good stuff!
The profusion of flowers here is quite appealing...I hope your re-entry into photography proves rewarding. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I can relate to your problem. At one point I put down my camera for several years. Ironically I had just completed a degree in media technology which required a number of classes in photography. When I finished the classes I lost all interest in photography. It wasn’t until my child was older and we could start hiking that I started to see photographs that I wanted to take and once again renewed my interest in photography.
By the way Curtis Knight from the PNNP has an article on this theme in the latest issue of the Nature Photographers Online Magazine
. In the first paragraph is a reference a recent discussion on the PNNP forum on this very subject. It’s well worth taking a look at it.
Mike - hey, an Indiana photo! I like Kankakee Sands quite a bit, as well as a couple of the other associated preserves up there. Hang in there - I think motivation comes and goes for everyone at some point..... CJ
