I'm wondering if anyone has some advice for some nice spots for shooting around Mt. St. Helens. I'm interested in good vantage points for early morning or late evening shots, interesting trails for non-mountain shots, or perhaps fall color ideas if there are some good areas for that.

Ryan,
Let me know when you're going up if you want some company. We should meet up sometime anyway, as we are practiclly neighbors!!

It's far for you two guys but the Norway Pass/Ghost Lake area provides some pretty sweet views. The best deal is to show up late one afternoon, shoot sunset, camp, get up early and shoot sunrise then head home. That spot takes me, from here in Hood River, a solid 2.5 hours to get to.
Jack, we should meet up sometime soon and hit a location or two. I've got to run my 40D through it's paces.
Mark, thanks for the tip, it looks like a great area. I've got a couple friends coming into town, and essentially they are looking for a day trip for some photographs in the area, so camping is pretty much out of the question this time (I think), but I do want to get up there and stay a couple days as well though.

I was up on Windy Ridge last weekend, caught a terrific sunset. Take SR503 at Woodland out past Couger to forest road #25 towards Randal. The color is just starting to turn. I plan to do my Fall on the #25 road this year.
I never heard if you had recieved the paper samples I sent you when you first got your 3800, Did you get them?
Thanks Doyle. We might check that area out. I did receive the paper sample, I really appreciate it. I still haven't narrowed down my favorites yet, other than Entrada.
