Got my new 5D the other day, but decided to take my trusty ol' Rebel on one last fling in the mountains, on a solo climb of Mt Lindsey on friday. As expected, perfect weather but no other climbers! Here's a look down from the top of the gully-from-hell route.

And here's one from the upper valley in the late morning, as the clouds were breaking up.

Stan, you make it so much more inspiring to get up early and hit the road with a camera.

Thanks, Sara for those kind words! In this case, the road was long and bumpy, and filled with numerous puddles the size of small lakes. hopefully my Jeep will hold on a few more years since i just spent all my money on my new toy
Edit: sorry for the wrong name, i think i got it from the ESS post--mind does not function in the early AM!

Who's Lori?
Nice job, Stan. I haven't climbed Lindsey, but I know it's quite a haul. By contrast, yesterday both lots were overflowing on Guanella Pass for Bierstadt climbers.

Stunning shots Stan! I love the POV of the first and the autumn tundra colors in the second are beautiful. Looks like the old rig earns its keep but wait'll you try the 5D.

Stan,
Great shots from the ol' Rebel! You are obviously excercising the 'f8 and be there' principle lately and it shows.
I look forward to seeing your Fall captures with your new 5D.

Hey thanks everyone! I'll try to get everyone's name right today.

Stan, the second shot is great. The composition and colors make this one for me.

I really like the shadow/layering in the first shot... awesome.

You flung your Rebel off the mountain? Wow. The power of the 5d I guess.
Love that second shot.

Jesse, actually i almost did. As i was taking a photo i slipped backward on a rock and fell, splitting my elbow wide open. I almost considered scrapping the climb, but i managed to stop the bleeding by wrapping it with a spare shirt. I somehow managed to keep hold of my camera, though had to retreive my backpack down the scree slope. When i processed my shots later, i found one naturally blurred shot of trees and sky--it was pretty amusing!
