It sure takes a completely windless day or lots of patience and good timing to catch one of these little flowers in focus. They are so small and on such long stems that you have to get so close to try and fill the frame that any movement shows up. Man I need to ask Santa for a Plamp for Christmas! The spiders really seem to like them too. They are always full of webs that have to be carefully cleaned up before the shot. They are such an interesting flower that it is worth the effort when you finally catch a good one.

These are some of my favorites, Dale. You found a nice one. The bright streak to the left tends to pull me out of the frame though.

It does take patience to photograph these - a plamp can help (at least it will return to the same position when it's done blowing), but will rarely eliminate the problem. Nice job on this one, though I might be tempted to crop it a little.

I've not tried to shoot these that I can recall but they look as tough as you say. Nice color and good control of the bg Dale.

Thanks for the comments. Now that you guys have mentioned it, it would probably look beter with a square crop. That would eliminate some of the empty space and cut off some of the bright stem. Then I could do a little burning on the remaining stem to darked it. Thanks Wayne.
