AFRICA - The Journey of a Lifetime
Sorry for my recent absence however, my focus of late has been on Africa rather than the Pacific Northwest. As such, it did not really seem appropriate to post stuff from Tanzania on a site that was pointed toward the PNW. So in advance, please accept this slight departure from PNW images in attempt to another unsuspecting individual into the wonderful world of Africa.
Warning: It is said that once you get the dust of Africa on your boots, you will always find a way to return.

I found myself falling in love with the people, the environment, and the photographic opportunities around me shortly after mid morning, my first day in Africa. While my original intent was to get to Africa before all of those wonderful sites I saw on TV simply vanished, my efforts have now turned into sharing what I have seen with others. To this extent, I have been organizing photo safaris and currently have openings in 2008 and 2009. My safari in 2008 will be my 4th safari into Tanzania, with one of the best Safari support companies around, Thomson's Safaris. A recent 2 person cancellation has me trying to fill the remaining positions on short notice. If the lure of Africa has your name on it – don’t delay.

More information on my safaris can be seen at my web site: http://www.randyhannaphotography.com

This site is all about nature, whether it be NW or anywhere else. I really look forward to seeing your images and hearing your stories.
Africa for me is a few years off. The next two years will take me to Italy, Norway, England, Mexico and Canada.
Bring em on!
Oh...this image is really cool BTW

Randy, I would agree with Rick. This may be folks mainly from the NW here but I like to see posts from nature no matter where it's from. I look forward to seeing more images from travels. A Safari through Africa is on my list as well, but I am on a temporary hiatus on foriegen travel as I work on other aspects of my photography business. It will happen down the road though. Good luck on filling those two spots!

Absolutely post your Africa images! It's Pacific Northwest Nature Photoraphers, not Pacific Northwest Nature Photoraphy

This is a great departure from the normal images we see of Africa. I rarely ever see a photograph with green grass in it.

I love the detail in the elephant on this one.

I echo the others Randy - bring em on man!!! And yer right once you've been to Africa you will spend the rest of your life trying to get back - as I have... But this time with a digital camera and a bigger bag o lenses!!!

I met Andy Biggs over the weekend. Andy also organizes photo tours of Tanzania and is a superb photographer in his own right. He ALSO is the creator of all the printing profiles for Moab paper!! Bet yall didn't know that!! I sure didn't until I ran into him at Glazer's Saturday standing behind the Moab paper display with a rep from Moab.

Andy or Randy are BOTH excellent choices if yer hankerin for a once in a lifetime photo-safari in Africa. Having been there done that (although MANY years ago) I can easily say it will blow your mind!!!

I'll have to pull up some of my Kodachrome slides from Africa and scan a few.....hmmmmmmmm

Sure Rick --- dig em out and show us all. I'd love to see them!
Then, we can have a scanning party. UGH! I dread that though. Let's hire someone to do the scanning while we go chase grizzlies on our kayaks! :jump:
