Had planned on going to Crystal Mill last year but then received notice that the leaves were stripped (from this forum).

Really would like to not miss again, have Sept 19th-24th open and curious on the timing of the aspen at the Crystal Mill for 2007. Any reports appreciated!

Timothy, this thread hasn't been updated in a while, but at least it's some info. Hopefully they will open it sooner.

Crystal Mill road closure

Anyone else heard anything lately?

Could you tell me more? Just where is it closed... was planning on hiking, not driving the road. Thanks.

Well Im not seeing it as went to link and just see road is closed for a bridge at Lizard Lake, curious where closure begins, I see that the bridge is out right at lizard lake but can you drive to that spot or is road closed further back? Thats my question I guess! If I can park by Lizard Lake the hike is fine, roughly 3-4 miles each way. Thanks.

Thx for update, sounds like at least another week for the color!

Sorry, forgot to post this the other day. I hiked out to the Mill this last weekend. The closure at the bridge washout had a detour around it, so there were plenty of ATVs, motorbikes, Jeeps, and one Chevy Malibu headed up the road. I walked at sunrise to avoid the insanity, and unless physically unable cant understand why anyone would want to drive that road. I fi had, would have stopped every 5 feet to take photos anyway. Beautiful area, colors about a week or so pre-peak, but lots of brown/black on the leaves. Would love to post shots, but must wait for new replacement software from Canon.

Ran out to the mill on the dirtbike Friday afternoon. They just opened the road that morning. If you were planning to get a shot of the mill with color, don't waste your time. The entire large stand of aspen behind and to the right of the mill has NO color. Looks like it has some sort of disease. ALL of the leaves are either gone or dried up. Only the one large tree directly to the right of the mill has leaves on it but were still green.
