Turnstone
40D, 500f4, 1.4x, f/11, 1/640, ISO400, handheld.

One of those perfect mornings today that makes you glad to be alive! I was sat in amongst the rocks watching a small group of wheatears when this turnstone (a female I think) landed nearby.

I'm really happy with my 40D

Hi Paul,
Very nice indeed , love the pose , and what an unusual pose this is for a Turnstone , looks like it's standing on tip toe , all the Turnstone's I've seen have been low to the ground , once again , very nice shot.

Kind regards
Andy...

I gave a little whistle to get the Turnstone's attention which might explain its pose.

Love that pose... perhaps a tad central but the birds stance more than makes up for that.

It was curious of your little whistle, like the colour and pose.
