A story of one the great people at NPN...

I've not been around much recently, as I've been in between careers, in transition with housing, and in between computers. During the transition, and while trying to gain my first fixed address in about 5 years, I quickly burned through much of my savings. I've now transitioned into teaching high school science near the New Hampshire seacoast, and things have finally settled down.

I would not have gotten on my feet so quickly if it were not for a person here at NPN though...

When I left my old job, I packed up all my images onto external drives and there they have sat for the last few months.

While diligently trying to save up for a computer, I was contacted by an NPN member who I'd mentioned my situations to, and culminating what to me is an unbelievable event of kindness, a new computer was hand delivered to my door yesterday. It was a 'backup' that he wasn't using, and figured I could use it more than I could...to me, a Godsend!

I don't think I can thank this person enough for helping me, and it serves as a reminder how much good there is in the world, and how many of those good people are here at NPN.

I am reinvigorated to get out shooting and explore the new areas around me...I'll see you in the forums!

But most importantly...THANK YOU!

Great to see you around Jim, and also kudos to the anonymous NPNer who decided to donate his computer away rather than chuck it into the garbage :toast:

Ashutosh,

Thanks, it's good to be around, and I can't wait until fall.

I'd be amiss to mention that the computer I was given is a better system than I could have purchased, and far from garbage! Makes it all the more amazing to me...

This kind of stories really helps restore faith that there are some truly generous and kind people out there. Whoever it was - bravo! and thank you.

Jim, thanks for sharing this story with us! I agree with Cindy that it comes as no surprise. Compassion, kindness and generosity are contagious - some day you may have the opportunity to do the same for someone else!

You made my day with this story Jim.

Such a generous action takes us by surprise and helps us examine how we should interact with each other. Who ever it was, thank you, you're an inspiration.

Fantastic story Jim, thank you for sharing it with us. I have always enjoyed seeing your images (I won't say work because we all love it). Glad to hear things are looking a little clearer in your life and you've got a good foundation to make those next steps, thanks to the generosity of a fellow NPNer!

All the best in your new endeavor! :wavey:

Great to have you back Jim, but I'm going to miss your Mt. Washington shots! As fo the computer, that's a great story, but certainly comes as no surprise. NPN'ers are, to a person, the most caring, genuine, and passionate people I know. Truly a great family here!

Hey, Jim, so nice to hear from you; very glad you'll soon be posting again. Been missing your images and comments. Sounds like a tough transition. All the best wishes to you in your new career. I expect you can make science a pretty fun subject.
NPN and NPN'ers are just darn amazing! Thanks for helping Jim get back to one of his passions!

A great story that proves that the majority of humanity are caring, helpful people. It is a shame that it is mainly the negative that gets reported because we all become so jaded from that constant input of negativity. Thanks so much for sharing this story AND thanks so much to the anonymous NPN'er who helped. I am looking forward to seeing your images again.
