After considering buying a D2xs (still not won lottery to move to canon) i was kindly donated a S5 by a company i do work for so thought id give it a go today, nice camera but a bit slow, whilst everyone in the hide was sounding like a machine gunning rattling of 8fps i was stuck with 2!!! thought id post to see what you guys think of the quality

Sigma 500mm f4.5 with 1.4x tc
Hide window
ISO 400 (tesing noise)

Looks okay from here at web size - try opening a 720x480 new doc in CS once you've imported the RAW file, then copy the raw file to the new doc and move it around until your main area of focus is visible.
Don't even think about resizing, just change the profile to sRGB and save as you normally do - then post it here.
This will give you a TRUE 100% crop image - then we can see how good the S5 is
Mind you - owt for free is okay

Well you have a nice pic of a Godwit, can't say its a test shot. I'd wait for the D300.

I don't think that's too bad for a free camera Andy
I bet there would be a lot more detail in this image without the t/c - the Sig 500 doesn't really like a t/c very much
