I am doing a presentation on Wednesday evening at the Estes Park library and will be showing over 100 photos set to music (using Lightroom) as well as telling stories about some of the adventures involved in getting the images. I was just over at the library to try out their projectors and found the quality of the images they projected to be very poor. I now need to find a better projector to rent and need some help. What should I be looking for in a projector? Is there a type that is better suited to high quality projection? What should I be asking for as I call around?

I think Epson's projectors are your best bet. Look for a recent model with high resolution (1024x768 minimum). Check Epson's site for specs; you can get a good idea of the quality based on price.
Also, for accurate color, you'll want to get the ICC profile for the projector model you end up with, and select that profile for the projector in the Displays setup.
Good luck on your presentation!

Definitely get an XGA+ projector (capable of 1024x768) or better. Lumens are really important if you're showing in a well-lit room or against something other than a projector screen. Dell's projectors offer an "sRGB" mode that's at least marginally close to color-accurate - if you don't have something like that, you can spend hours twiddling with the settings, so I'd recommend a projector with that mode. Most places that I know of rent Epson projectors, BTW.

Have you checked with Camren, in Denver? They have lots of camera and lenses, I don't know if they rent projectors.

They do - rented an Epson from them early this year.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm on the prowl here in Estes for something close by and will be checking out a couple later this morning. Les and Nat, your info will be very helpful. Thank you!
