Here's a shot from Storm Pass TH which gives a little indication of what the color on Bierstadt Moraine looks like. It hasn't progressed too far and if you were to see them up close, most of the leaves look very sickly. Oh well, perhaps it will be better at lower elevations later this month.

Wonderful light on Hallett. The Caudle Clouds® are a nice touch as well. The foreground looks a little flat. That is, a slight bump in contrast wouldn't hurt. Is this view right at the trailhead or a ways down the trail?

Hi Doug, it is right at the trailhead. Thanks for the comment about contrast. I'll take another swing at that foreground and see if I can't improve it a bit. I'll replace the image with the updated one when I'm done.

Hey Erik, any change in the leaves at Bear Lake? I've been too busy at work and have only made it up once in Sep. Last year by this time I think the Bear Lake aspens were at or past peak. Even that folliage looks pretty green. I like shooting from around this spot in the fall.

Tony et al, the leaves at Bear are changing and dont look too bad although they will go from yellow to red in the next couple of days. Its worth a look.

Beautiful comp, Eric, and great light and exposure. The blues are a bit strong for me, it looks like a slight cast on the far hillside shadows. I saw a lot of sickly leaves the past few days--wasn't even able to get any close shots of foliage because of the lack of 'pristine color'

Nice comp Erik! Love the cloud and the light on Hallet. I am looking forward to the improved version.

Great shot Erik. The clouds and pink glow are wonderful.
Tony, I shot the aspen stand at Bear Lake on Saturday morning and it was looking nice. It was probably about 85% turned. Middle to end of this week should be ideal barring any extreme wind storms like we had last year. Like Erik mentioned the Bierstadt Moraine and most of the rest of the aspen have not really turned yet. The leaves on the aspen near the base of Trail Ridge looked really sickly.

Good Night!!
So you just hop out of your vehicle and grab this shot? Amazing.
No 10 mile hike one way to 13,000' for this baby?
Great catch Erik!
