We had a bit of a frost early this morning and I didn't hold out much hope of finding a Dragon anywhere, so imagine how happy I was to find this 'old geezer' flitting around as if it was mid-July
I kept losing him and finding him again for about half an hour until he finally perched and let me get very close for a few shots.
I was trying to get a good shot of the antihumeral stripes and show how they were turning a bit greenish, but where he perched all I had in the BG was a bloomin' hedge of holly, and the highlights comming off it were horrible - why won't these guys perch somewhere nice for me, everytime I shoot one there's some busy BG in the shot

That's how they avoid us so well!
Great capture, I like the ultra macro.
Best wishes

Detail is fantastic, Andy. As for the background, for this close, would it be possible for you to hold artificial background (or put it there) behind him?
Cheers,
Marko
