I am using CS2. Does Adobe provide raw converter updates for new camera models on versions other than the latest? I am not sure how long they continue to support older versions, if they do at all.

I am getting a new P&S camera that has raw, but really don't want to buy CS3 quite yet. The budget is already in tatters.

Harley, the last update for ACR for CS2 is version 3.7. If your version is older than that you can download 3.7 HERE.

Harley, Adobe does not further update its camera raw plug-in for CS2 for any new cameras that come out after CS3 is on the market. That way, if you want to use Adobe Camera Raw converter to open raw images from a camera produced after CS3 came out, you have to upgrade to CS3. It's nicely rigged, eh? I think the execs at Adobe and all the camera manufacturers sit down together over martini lunches and plan it that way and snicker at us consumers.

Of course, there are other raw converters, probably including whatever software will come with your P&S. Before I upgraded from CS to CS2 so I could use ACR for raw images from the 30D, I was able to use Adobe's own DNG format raw converter, convert raw images to tiffs and use them just fine in CS. Bit of an extra hassle, though.
