I am thinking about heading up to RMNP for some photos of the elk, but wanted to check to see how it was up there first. If nothing else I will probably go and get some morning shots.

Thanks.

I am in Estes for the weekend. I took a chance. The Elk are out. It seems like there were more herds about last year, but that can't possibly be true. At any rate, they Bulls are herding teh Cows and bugling. You should catch a few. They are best from around five PM till ??? I stopped taking pictures and went to get some dinner when I was taking pictures at ISO 3200, 1/125 second, and f-stop approaching 5,maximum opening an a 100-400 at full extension. I will be trying tomorrow as well. Who knows what we will do through the day.

Good Luck!!!

I was up in RMNP yesterday and last Saturday (9/15) and saw quite a few Elk. Moraine Park (near Cub Lake) had one or two herds and we also saw some up around West Horseshoe Park near Sheep Lakes. They went into the woods rather early (8-8:30am), but there were quite a few around.
