Red kite
Hi everyone

Went to Gigrin on Friday; 3.5 hour drive, bucketed down, rubbish light, but a real experience. Thanks Alan, Paul (Gibbs & Thomas) and Graeme for the advice - it helped a lot. I know that this doesn't compare to the flush of absolutely fantastic shots from Gigrin posted over the past few months, but considering the conditions I was pleased.

This was taken in a lull - the downpour had given way to a heavy drizzle...

Thanks for looking

Mark :toast:

Good job considering the less than ideal conditions :toast: :toast:

What might be worth a try to make the BG less noisy, open the image again in two identical layers and apply some really heavy NR to the lower layer and then blend the layers leaving the Kite as it is and a much less noisy BG - only a thought :wavey:

I think both Andy's bits of advice are good  I too have been to Gigrin when it's raining and it really is disappointing, but like you say, considering conditions, some really nice shots can be had, but it's a lot harder work and it's a bit hit and miss with sharpness with lower shutter speeds. It is a great place to go and after this, I bet you're dying to go when the lighting good :toast:

Hi both

Thanks for the helpful comments; I used Noise Ninja, but not as described - I'll go back and process it again. I'm definitely up for going back - well worth the long trip, but next time I'll listen to the weather forecast rather than trusting to luck
