I appreciate this is a massive topic but how do folk here go about framing images they have printed. Some questions that immediately spring to mind are:
Do you tend to go for custom made frames or get images printed to fit a certain frame?
Do you have any favoured brands?
Do you always use a mount? For example the pano shots such as Tom W's Short-eared Owl or Elliott N's Highland Stag pano shots (posted in the last few months) with text and border may not need a mount. However if the print is pressed against the glass does this cause problems?
Any general comments or advice greatly appreciated.
Mounting always looks more professional.
I bought my own mount cutter simply because I don't stick to standard sizes of 'window'.
As to framing, well you can go two ways, a) Ikea or one of the high street poster shops (and discard the poster) , or b) get them made for you to your measurements amd material.
Prints pressed aginst glass need to be sealed really well.
If you need big prints then John MacT (UKNP member) can do this for you John's website
If you decide to get Frames made for you, John Gardner (UKNP member) can do this and a good job he does to at a really fair price. John's web site

nice one Tom! How much do people charge for prints generally? 10" x 15" unframed and framed? Sorry to hijack your post Paul, butI'll grab Tom while he's in full flow

Can give a price for mounted or framed as it depends on the frame, and I will not post these anyway.
