This was taken after an early morning kill, about 6.45am just when the sun was rising. We had arrived moments after this Cheetah had taken down the prey, heart still pumping, the Cheetah took time to draw breath. Positioning ourselves so we were almost shooting into the light this gave us a wonderful view, almost a silhouette and I was able to put certain techniques into place, I hope. The light just catching the fur, plus to the right, the cheetah's breath. A good teacher!
Hope you like it.

I'd have loved to have been there with the video Steve - to capture that breath streaming across the frame in that awesome light, perhaps with a 30% speed drop...ooo I can see it now
Stunner of an image - just a pity the head isn't turned t'other way, but other than that it's great
I guess I should have listened to my wife, Alison. She said the same thing

Very atmospheric, love the red light on the hair tips, shame you cant clearly see the breathe escaping fron the cat but still give an arm to have been there myself.

What great light and well handled exposure.
More a voyeuristic type of shot than an engaging one, but good none the less.

Saw something very similar from Mr Rouse... any inspiration? Certainly atmospheric. I'd have another go processing this for highlights and enhance that halo effect. Great vision in going for this style though
Elliott, can't deny Mr Rouse was the inspiration, its all about thinking outside the box sometimes. Just wished I could do that on a more frequent basis. Re processing that's a different issue as I try to keep it to a minimum, however perhaps a little more tweaking might not have been a bad thing.
