Just got back this AM from Banff/Jasper etc. Absolutely AWESOME. I havent been up there since 1993 and will definitely not wait another 14 years again before returning. I want to thank Rene and Darren for guidance and help with gear. Hooked up with Bill Bean last Sunday at Lake Moraine (Bill -- I went back Friday AM and the conditions were even worse with gale force winds).

Fall colors up there are really close to peak. Drove Icefield Parkway on Thurs and it is just close to peak. My prediction is that this coming week will be at max everywhere. Yesterday things in Yoho National Park to the west were definetely at peak.

Friday we went hiking in the AM and by afternoon clouds came rolling in and dropped snow over night. Woke up Saturday AM (yesterday)to spot on perfect shooting conditions everyplace, fresh snow on mountains, patches of sun, lots of clouds (but not totally overcast), rising fog from rivers, meadows and lakes, and perfect fall colors. I blew through so much LF film (see you on Thursday Brent D). The image shown here is of a reflection from Herbert Lake in Banff right as you start up the Icefields Parkway from yesterday.

Have tons more to go through but unfortunately that will have to wait as another airplane is waiting for me for work on this 4 hour stopover in Denver.

Hope to see a bunch of you out next weekend and will keep my eye out for the 'ribbons'.

Great shot Rich. I'm a little cranky that I didn't see a single cloud in 5 days and the day after I flew home it cloulded up and gave you great conditions. Sucks to be me I guess. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your stuff.

Niiii-i-i-ce. It was great being there in the summer, but I really want to hit it in late August to mid-September. Can't wait to see more.

Yup, She dropped off the big pile of film Monday. I must have blown through $40 worth of LF film on this location alone. Saturday was the best day of shootin but we had good clouds most days except for a couple of rough clear days at the beginning of the trip.

I'll be out and around this weekend and will keep an eye out for everybody.
