Not as colourful or exciting as the hyena shot - in fact its probably about as different as you can get. This certainly won;t be for all tastes, but it was one of my favourites from the trip. I tried a few times to convey the vastness of the open plains but they didn't really work. It needed scale and something you could associate with being huge and that could be intentionally lost in the landscape - what better than an elephant. I thought at the time, it may have worked better with the elephant approaching. I now prefer this way with the elephant drifting off alone into the wilderness.
On the original raw, the sky was bit washed out, but not burnt out. I double processed the raw, once for the foreground and then again for the sky. For the sky, I dropped the exposure by 1 stop and dropped the blue luminance channel by 10% to get more texture. Both images were merged in CS2. It was amazing how much detail was preserved when, on the surface, the sky looked lifeless.
C&C welcomed! Thanks for looking.

Saw this on your website and liked it then... super image and you certainly succeeded in your aim.
Phillip.
Just looked through your shots from your trip
