I am planning a week off in mid October. I am considering camping and was going up the west coast to the Lake District.
However, I am having a re-think on subject matter to shoot. Where in Mainland Britain is the best place for Wading birds at this time of year? Any species such as Godwit, Plover, Whimbrel, Sandpiper etc.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hi Rob,
Not sure where you are basedbut, tun North Norfolk coast is renowned for it's Wader's over the coming weeks. Salthouse and Titchwell are just two of many where you will get waders.

Salthouse is the place to get really close, but beyond the second week in October you may find it tails off.

Thanks for your replies Rob and Major. I had thought that Salthouse was the place to be. I am now thinking that I shall head up to the Lakes for a few days then do a round trip to Salthouse and back home. doubling my drive time but hopefully worth it.
Thanks.

I'm a sucker as I have been led by television
As I am going up the west coast to get to the Lakes I have decided to forego the cross country trip to Salthouse and head for the Dee Estuary instead (Chris Packham has a lot to answer for).
