This shot is from last Wednesday AM at Mt. Edith Cavell. Nobody was up there. It was just my wife and me. Fantastic place. Only had a few minutes of decent light. I am a newbie to using GND filters and this one was taken with a 2 stop hard Hitech filter. The way I decided to meter was just to take readings through my spot meter and filter. Worked great and spot meter doesnt lie. Another interesting thing about this shot is that it was taken with Astia. I usually dont care for Astia, but after seeing great results from Rick D and Scott B decided to take some test shots.

Ooo, ya. I really like the color palette of this one - Porter-esque. Very nice!

can you at least tell us the mountain range or National Park for the location?

Richard, great shot, I love the composition and the mist, well done. One thing to maybe watch for is to keep the reflection a little less bright than the background. The eye will always head for the bright spots.

Mmmmm, yes. Sweet! Ditto Todd's comment - the reflection is what immediately stands out to me. In addition to the great reflection itself, being able to see the rocks on the lake bottom adds a lot. You managed the contrast really well, too. It's a tough spot to shoot (imo), but this is really well balanced. Nice work with the gnd and the astia. Now that you're home safe, I can tell you that this is the spot where Jennifer and I came across the mama grizzly and her two cubs. Yikes!
Looking forward to seeing the scans!

I hate you Rich...I hate you I hate you. The day I shot here there was not a cloud to be found, I was sharing the location with a dozen gomers on a workshop shoot, (though it was amusing to hear them squeal about the bridge vibrating everytime one of them moved) and the wind came up just before the light got good which pretty much ruined the reflections. Guess I need to go back.
Seriously, great image Rich. Image envy is a terrible thing.
Thanks Bill. It was so cool to be up with great conditions. The whole week (minus a few times of blue skies) was perfect. I have a bunch more to show you.
Rick D. It felt a little spooky up there like somebody was watching us. As I said we were all alone up there.

Beautiful Rich! I love the reflection and being able to see the rocks beneath the surface. Can't wait to see more ... and those big prints!
