are the flowers too distracting?

David,
WOW! What a shot. it's tack sharp and the colors and bokeh are right on. The flower doesn't distract at all IMHO. Nice work!

I don't know too much about technique in avian photography, but I like the flowers in this image. The color and clarity of this photo are amazing too. I suppose the composition might be a little more striking if the lower right flower were not there but what can you do
Oh, wow! this is cool! Love the flowers in there, both of them. It picks up the orange in the feathers of the bird. And those flowers are what it's there for. The hummer is so crystal clear/tack sharp I feel like I could reach out and touch it. I sure hope you're delighting the Avian forum crowd with this one!

I actually like the flowers and the bit of color they bring, although I wish there were some on the left side to help with the balance of the shot. Nice clarity and DOF on that little guy.

I'm going to be contrary here and say that I find the flowers, as they are, a little distracting. My eye keeps jumping over to them. I don't think it's the flowers themselves that are distracting but their color....bright red is an attention grabber. The color and detail on the bird are terrific.

I love these tight bird shots. I digiscope a bit, but one of these days I'm going to have to add a long lens...
I think it is a Rufus.
