Glacial Erratics - Lake Tenaya, YNP
Posted this image in E,S&S last night but thought to post here as well. Captured just after Labor Day as the temperatures were beginning to drop. A little too much movement on the surface of the lake...so, not a crystal clear reflection of the Peak but went with what I had. Cropped to a square format, curves adjustments and a bit of dodging and burning. Appreciate your comments.

Nikon D200, 24-120mm lens and tripod.

Just lovely Bishop!!!
I love your eye for composition...
the 3 BIG rocks in the foreground Really act to ground the image!
and hold your eye inside the image with the reflection being the 4th leg of the square:smile:
Fun to have the leading lines lead DOWN to the focal point, interesting.....
Very nice!!!
Thanks for sharing....

in gratitude,
Nelcha

I think the blur actually helps this image from being a distraction. the interesting parts for me are the line sweeping through the composition, the two rocks in the foreground and the blue / orange color combination. the peak itself, not so much.

This is a beautiful image. I really love how the patterns interact so well in this. I seem to see a slight halo around the foreground rocks, I really like this as it seems to make those rocks just glow.

Thanks all... your comments are much appreciated!

Richard -- Hadn't actually considered your point about the blurred reflection but you are right if it was sharp it would detract from the other elements of the image.

Nelcha -- hadn't noticed your location before...we might be neighbors as I am out in Roseville. Good to know there is another NPN'er in the area.

Greg -- will revisit the halo you mention...it may have been the result of extra sharpening for the web.

Thanks again!

Really nice work, Bishop. I love the placement of the stones within the frame. The reflection just puts it over the top.

Very nice work. I too think the reflection being slightly blurred helps the image.

Bishop,

I like the high lighted curve very much - it really pulls this comp together; along with the nicely placed rocks in the foreground. The golden reflection of the mountain peak is wonderful. My only nit is that the contrast/shadows of the rocks is a little heavy. Other than that, this is a wonderful shot.

Hey, what's the word on your LF quest?
