Well,
I was hoping for a repeat of last year's classic Sunday at the Bells and today did Not disapoint!
Same conditions, same potential, a slightly different outcome. It snowed last night and we awoke to breaking clouds.
I can't really say it was better than last year, just Really Good. Jesse S. and Don G. were there also. There may have been other RMNP'rs, but I had my two young children (3&6) with me. So I was a little preoccupied. But they had a great time as well as soon as the sun broke out and things warmed up. It started out a balmy 25 degrees with a cold wind.
I really don't know where to start because I have so much processing to do still. But here is quick conversion just to give an idea of the conditions we had: http://derek.zenfolio.com/img/v2/p5185955-4.jpg
Anyone else who was there today Please feel free to add in some images as well! I know Jesse and Don are probably checkin' out their stuff too.

Cool Derek! Was it windy up there last night/this morning? It was very windy here in Monument. I am hoping for calmer condiitons next weeked.

In the first shot I posted above it was windy. But when it gets like that I just use a 6 stop ND filter with my CP. Then a long exposure ~15-25 seconds usually smooths out the water pretty nicely. So I don't normally worry too much about wind, unless it is gail force that is.
Man im so jealous, Derek, i had to settle for a walk in the park today--i want more Bells!!

Derek – great shots. I love the cloud on the first image.
I am kicking myself for not being able to go this last weekend. From your shots, looks like next week would be too late for the bells?

It WAS amazing an amazing morning. My first experience shooting the Bells in fall ... and it was quite the experience. I have plenty of shots from the morning, but here's a very, very quick HDR conversion of an early morning capture. I thought the area would be good for the next couple of days, but beyond that - it's likely up to the winds (which were raging much of the weekend).

Really nice Bells shots guys. Awesome clouds and and snow!
Derek, that 1st shot is really cool how the long exposure smoothed out the water, very nice effect.
Jesse, this is a great example of HDR done right!
Here's one of some aspens on the right slope from the Bells.
And here's one of Sievers Mt as the clouds were clearing.

Nice shots everyone. From the looks of it I was standing next to all of you at one time. It was a great morning and I haven't yet processed my shots. I wasn't really looking around for anyone, but it's nice to know there were fellow RMNP there enjoying the view.

Derek, I must not have been very far from you that morning. It almost seems a little funny to see these photos without the 200 or so people that were on the shore included . It might be a while before I get through my stack of slides to scan my Bells photos, but I have some about like yours. My favorite from the morning was actually one I got further down the valley on Maroon Creek: http://www.landscapetony.smugmug.com/gallery/3537282#203489261-L-LB

LOL ...
Tony, I thought I saw you. But everyone was wearing their own special face/head warmer beanies, including me, so I wasn't sure it was you.
I wouldn't have even seen Jesse unless he had come up and said hello.
Hey, I love that shot you got at Maroon Creek with the colors and snow. Great job!

The wind picked up and them calmed about 4-5 times. Here is one when it was calmer:
