Seven pics to follow, mostly snaps from my window - on my drive from Twin Lakes, to the Bells, over McClure and through Kebler. Don't even ask me to evaluate any colors this year. It's a bizarre year for colors. There's stuff to be enjoyed nearly anywhere, but it may be harder to find right now.
1st pic - Twin Lakes area (peaking on Saturday)

That's all!
It was an adventurous weekend for me. First off, my wallet is somewhere between upper Lincoln Creek Road and Capitol Creek. (A BIGGGG thanks to Derek and Don for putting gas in my car!)
I spent Saturday evening shooting at the end of the Capitol Creek Road - a very windy evening. On my way back down later that night, I nearly smashed my bumper into a towering aspen tree that had fallen across the road. If you've been up there, you know how big these things are. I panicked for a moment at the thought of being trapped up there for awhile, but then I remembered I had an Xterra. When you need to drive through the forest - even over downed trees - it gets the job done. Lesson? Start packing a saw.
Sorry I missed you guys at Kebler. Bailed at the last second - as the color reports scared me into going elsewhere.

Nice Jesse. Looks like they got some nice snow on the bells since the last report.

Awesome shot of the Bells Jesse.
I musta been the only one here who wasn't able to make it up to the Capitol Creek TH Saturday evening. I got as far as the overturned Honda, slowed down to check it out, and couldn't get enough traction to make it the rest of the way up the hill. Sometimes I think I'm the only person in Colorado who owns an XTerra w/o 4WD. Either that or I just don't know how to get the most out of it. It was no fun at all backing down that road away before I found a place to turn around.
Glad you were able to salvage the weekend in grand style! It was great to see you and Derek at the Bells, I was amazed you spotted me with my jacket hood and balaclava on, you should work for the TSA in identifying possible terrorists.

Nice shots Jesse. If these are just snaps, I'd really like to see the good ones!

Nice Bells Jesse! Your right, it's been a little strange for colors this year. I stayed home because of the windy conditions but, hope I can make up for it next weekend.

Nice report! Glad you had a good trip. #1 is great!
Pretty darn nice for snapping them out of the window! That first one is gorgeous - quintessential Colorado fall.
No joke on carrying a saw. I drove 265 to Collbran, then south through the Grand Mesa NF and there were several downed trees from the winds this weekend - fortunately someone else had a saw and took care of them.

Doug - an Xterra without 4WD? Blasphemy!!!!
