Methinks he's a bit too far away in this shot Paul, and here's my tip - if the lake has trees around it there will be 'dark' water - the lower PoV you use the further towards you this 'dark' water will come - try moving around and get your subject in this dark area, maybe a switch to spot metering will help with keeping the exposure right.
