As the title suggest I am heading to Southern Florida next week for 10 days. I plan on spending time at the usual spots (Anhinga Trail, Ding Darling, Estero Beach, Corkscrew, and the Keys). Any up to date information on any of these sights would be extremely helpful. Also my trip itinerary is not set in stone so any out of the way spots for amazing wildlife or species specific shooting would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Lia and Dan for your replies. I will put both of these sites on my radar and research them before the trip. Dan what were some of your wildlife sightings in Myakka?

Hi Charlie,

This was the scene at Ding Darling this past Saturday morning. They have already put the flap gates in the culverts at the first two pools, presumably to maintain a lower water level for migrating shore birds. The birds at Ding can be a little unpredictable, but first thing in the morning with a low tide (around a new moon or full moon) is often a best bet. The gate opens at 7:30, closed on Fridays.

Thanks alot Buck! I count atleast 5 different species in this overcrowded photo! I talked to the Rangers t Corkscrew today and they said the water levels were low and the shorebirds were still scarce. D.D. looks like a much better option for right now.
