Want to visit Cripple Creek/Victor this weekend. Does anyone have any update on the fall color condition in Cripple Creek/Victor? Thanks in advance.

Kalin can probably give a more precise answer, but I was up on Rampart Range road Saturday and Sunday. It was blowing like a hurricane (OK maybe not quite that hard), so the leaves are getting stripped from the trees on the ridgelines. It was blowing hard again last night and this morning. Otherwise, along Rampart Range the aspens were looking good last weekend and should also look good this weekend. There was a fair bit of green left last weekend. I would suspect that you'll find similar conditions in the Cripple Creek area and along old Stage Coach road. If this wind keeps up the color will be short lived though. I just realized I answered a very similar post from you on the Rampart Range road. From where I was shooting I could see up near Cripple Creek and I would judge that the fall colors were in a similar state up there.

Mel it felt like a hurricane in Monument! Thought I was going to wake up in KS! Good grief! I am afraid to see what it did to the trees.

Actually, it was close to a hurricane. According to the news reports I saw, they recorded wind speeds of 70 mph in north Springs/Monument area on Tuesday morning. 74 mph is 'hurricane-force' wind - according to the weather guy (I didn't fact-check his story).
