looks quite noisy and looks like a big splodge and scratch in the bottom left, unsual pose

Interesting/different pose Paul :toast:

I feel a head-turn is needed for this to work more effectively, although beyond your control obviously.

Although clearly a crop, it is extremely noisy {similar to my d2h at 1000iso at 100%}, so it appears you haven't quite got to the bottom of the problem {unless this is indeed a high iso}.

thanks guys
miserable day, scratch is spider web anchor, splodge is OOF piece of veg ISO 800 and still saving for full neat image.

thanks

Makes sense to get neatimage, or similar, Paul!

I find my noise ninja to be indispensable when needing a largish crop from 400iso upwards with my d70 and d2h. Its also useful to avoid sharpening the bg if possible {don't know if you did that here}.

I did read somewhere that the d2x {or maybe its the d2xs} has two or three 'in-camera' noise reduction settings for the higher iso's, and 'maybe' that is in the 'off' position in your camera  {maybe worth checking out}.

Most likely this is simply a crop percentage situation though.

Apart from the web, splodge, and noise, I think this has real merit. The turn of head would have been perfect. Great vision though :toast: :toast:
