Hi everyone,
I've been a long time reader of the forum and thought Fall would be a good time to try my first post. I have seen so much great work from everyone here. I hope I can get some suggestions on how to improve my work.
This was taken on Kebler pass on 9/21, it was raining and decided to try to make the best of it by venturing into the aspens.
Thanks

Oh my, this needs to be displayed MUCH bigger! This is a staggeringly beautiful shot, Robert. Ideally, I wish the aspen bole on the right wasn't crowded out of the side of the image, but even still, this is nice.
720 pixels are your friends.

I would agree with Todd. We just can't see much here. The pastel fern leaves and saturated yellows of the aspen leaves do promise a nice image.

How do I resize my image to 720 and still stay under 200KB in order to post my images. I'm using Photoshop Elemets 2.0 ?

If elements has a "save for Web" option under the file menu use that. It will save you some file space. Also, you will probably have to compress the jpg to somewhere around 70% (it depends on the photo). The loss of quality can be compensated for by using Marc Adamus' sharpening technique http://pacificnw.naturephotographers.net/tips/photoshop.htm while resizing your photos.

Thanks Josh here is a resize. I havent tried the Adumus' sharpening technique yet but will try it in the future.

I definately like the Sharper version of the enlarged image. Do you have Nik Sharpener? I find it works very well and in at least CS2 the Smart Sharpen tool, does a very nice job if you are gentle with it and make it the last process. Compositionally i like the feel and the softness of color as a contrast to the sharp details on the Tree Trunks and Fern patterns. All in all a very Pleasing Photograph!

That's a pretty darned nice shot for a first post. I think a bit of sharpening will make it sparkle even more. Hope you will be posting some more. I've really enjoyed participating on the forums and hopefully learned a lot from the critiques.

Nice shot. Sharpening a little, especially for web output, would help. Adamus' technique is worth looking at. If you are interested in investing in a very good tool, evaluate the Pixel Genius PK Sharpener, it's very popular for a reason - very capable and flexible.

THAT'S what I'm talkin' 'bout! Killer shots, both of them.

Here is one without the bole crowded out.
